Students of the Snowy Mountains!
Connect the mighty efforts of the past with the innovation of the future.
To celebrate National Science Week 2019, Snowy Hydro is running a competition for students in years 3-6 at schools across the Snowy Mountains. Winners will receive a behind-the-scenes guided tour highlighting an area of the Snowy Hydro Scheme assets.
Be inspired and dive into 70 years of Snowy to research either our renewables, history or involvement in your community.
HOW TO ENTER?
To enter the competition, choose the decade that you think Snowy Hydro had its greatest STEM achievement and tell us why. Present your work on a poster.
Your entry must include your name, year and school.
Entries close 5pm on Friday 27 September 2019.

How long does the competition run?
12 August till 27 September 2019.
Who is eligible to participate?
All students currently enrolled in years 3-6 in a school located in the Snowy Valleys Regional Council region, Snowy Monaro Regional Council region and Corryong township are eligible to participate.
How can my child or a student at our school enter the competition?
Create a poster answering the task provided above, and submit your entry prior to 5pm Friday 27 September 2019. Please ensure you include the following information with your entry:
- Name of entrant
- Year at school
- Name of the school they attend
- Contact details for parent or guardian (name, number, and email), or contact details of the teacher submitting students' work with parent/guardian’s permission (name, number, email, and school)

Note: unfortunately we are unable to send your entry back to you so please take a copy or a photo before you send it in.
How big should my poster be?
Please ensure that posters are no smaller than A3 size (210 x 297 mm) and no larger than A1 size (594 x 841 mm).
How will the winners be decided?
Judges will be looking for the best eight original works by the students and will take into consideration creativity, explanation coherency, and factual information presented.
When will the winners be announced?
We will notify the winners directly via the contact details, and announce the winning schools via a media release on our website. Winners to be announced by 18 October 2019.
What is the prize?
This year’s prize will be a behind-the-scenes guided tour of a Snowy Hydro Scheme asset, giving students the opportunity to see how the STEM innovations of the past contribute to keeping the lights on for future generations.
