Martin Exelby

Chief Customer Officer

Martin Exelby was appointed Chief Customer Officer in June 2026. In this role, he is responsible for leading the company’s retail strategy, growth and performance, with a focus on delivering exceptional outcomes for its Red Energy and Lumo Energy customers.

He joined Red Energy in 2004, playing a key role in the establishment of the business, and became its Chief Financial Officer in 2014. Martin has more than 35 years’ experience in the energy industry across a range of commercial and strategic roles, including with Contact Energy in New Zealand and PowerGen in the UK.

Martin holds a Master of Arts in Metallurgy, Economics and Management from the University of Oxford and a Master of Science in Environmental Technology, specialising in energy policy, from Imperial College London.
