Tumut 3 Power Station
Tumut 3 is a major hydroelectric power station that plays a vital role in the Snowy Scheme. It operates as a pumped storage station and is the largest in the Scheme by generating capacity. Opened in the 1970s, it uses water from Talbingo Dam and stores it in Jounama Pondage. This impressive facility is not open to regular visitation due to operational requirements.
Talbingo Dam
Talbingo Dam is the deepest in the Snowy Scheme and one of its most visually striking. Surrounded by steep hills and native bushland, the dam offers visitors a range of recreational experiences year-round. It’s a great spot for boating, swimming and picnics, with easy access for day trips.
