Snowy Hydro Limited is a major contributor to national and state based greenhouse mitigation policies and programs.

Through the clean renewable hydro generation of the Snowy Mountains Scheme we are a major supplier and trader of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in the Federal Governments main greenhouse gas abatement program, the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET).

Our gas fired generation portfolio with an emission footprint of far less than that emitted from coal burning power stations plays an essential role in providing Greenhouse Abatement Certificates (NGACs) for the NSW greenhouse gas abatement program.

We are constantly looking at new ways to improve the renewable energy outputs from our existing assets, including the development of mini/micro hydros at Tumut 3 power station, Jindabyne and Jounama, all of which are eligible for the National Green Power program. This program is a joint state government initiative that encourages the building of new renewable generation.
