Q) What is the latest update on Snowy Scheme water storages?A) Rainfall over the past few months has provided some slightly above average inflows into Snowy Scheme storages. However, while the last few months have seen some above average inflows due to localised rain, snow levels in the Snowy Mountains region have been near record lows.
Water levels in Lake Jindabyne and Lake Eucumbene are now expected to stabilise and it is expected that levels will improve as the usual seasonal improvements in inflows occur in spring.
However, the amount of spring inflows and associated improvements in Snowy Scheme water storage levels will depend on how much snow falls over the remainder of the snow season and how much localised rain occurs as we move into spring.
Q) How can we get information on lake levels, water releases and Snowy Hydro water operations?A) Snowy Hydro has a website based water resources information service that can be accessed via the homepage on the Snowy Hydro website at www.snowyhydro.com.au. It provides information on lake levels, snow depths and releases into local rivers including the volume of environmental releases into the Snowy River from Jindabyne Dam.
In addition, the Snowy Hydro Water Operations Report which describes in high level summary form how the Snowy Scheme operates, the water operations during the year and how Snowy Hydro meets its obligations under the Snowy Water Licence, can also be viewed at our website at www.snowyhydro.com.au
