The Power of Water Primary Education KitThe 'Power of Water' Primary Education kit is designed to take Upper Primary class through a cross-curriculum unit based on the Snowy Mountains Scheme. It comprises of teachers' background notes and lesson plans, activity sheets and science experiments, all tied to the NSW Board of Studies stages 2 & 3 syllabus areas.
PEOPLE, ENGINEERING, WATER, ENERGY AND the ENVIRONMENT have been chosen as the areas most appropriate for a study of Australia's engineering wonder of the modern world. A unit enhancement section and evaluation suggestions have been included to facilitate teaching strategies, and there is a glossary of terms for both teacher and student reference.
Also included is a CDROM interactive quiz on the Scheme and the area in which it operates. The students are required to move through the game by directing "Kozzi", our Mountain Pygmy Possum character, and answering a series of multiple-choice questions to move to the next stage! There are six stages in total covering the mountains, the history and even irrigation. Each time the game is played the questions rotate. This means that the game has many lives and it is made even more challenging (and fun) by having a time component to complete it.
Thirdly, a 15-minute DVD is included, giving an overview of the Scheme that is both informative and enjoyable.
A colourful poster completes this exciting classroom resource!
The package is suitable for both MAC and PC system requirements. At $50, which includes postage and handling, it is available through the following options:
